Centenary Celebrations

The Mar Thoma Theological Seminary stands at a sacred threshold as it enters its Centenary: marking one hundred years of theological formation, spiritual discipline, and the nurturing of faithful servants for the Kingdom of God. Rooted in the heritage of the Mar Thoma Church and responsive to the needs of the times, the Seminary has consistently sought to shape ministers who are grounded in Scripture, sensitive to context, and committed to the mission of God.

As we celebrate this historic milestone, the Seminary continues to remain steadfast in its vision and purpose, holding together spiritual depth and theological integrity. Guided by the Centenary theme ‘Tabnith’ (Exodus 25:40), we are reminded of God’s call to build according to the divine pattern - aligning our life, witness, and ministry not with passing trends or conveniences, but with God’s revealed design and enduring purposes.

The Centenary is not merely a moment of remembrance, but a renewed call to faithfulness and obedience. Tabnith: A Century of Ministerial Training

The Hebrew term Tabnith, meaning ‘pattern,’ ‘model,’ or ‘blueprint,’ appears in Exodus 25:9, where God commands Moses to construct the tabernacle ‘according to all that I show you, after the pattern of the tabernacle.’ The term signifies a divinely revealed design that demands faithful obedience, underscoring the importance of adhering to God’s purposes rather than human preferences. In the context of ministerial training, Tabnith calls for theological education and spiritual formation that are aligned with the biblical model of faithful service, character formation, and mission. As the Seminary marks a century of ministry, this theme invites renewed reflection on the nature and purpose of theological education.
